Care Home Inquest Representation

Inquest Representation

Inquest Law Lawyers

Our care home lawyers have acted in a number of inquests relating to deaths of residents in care home.  We provides a full advisory and advocacy service to care homes across England and Wales. This covers from the initial stages of a coroner’s investigation into an unnatural or unexpected death through to representation at a full inquest in the coroner’s court. At the investigatory stage, advice covers a spectrum from understanding the process and the coroner’s role, to helping identify potential witnesses and assisting with the compilation of witness statements and documents to be disclosed. As well as acting as the advocate at a full inquest, our care home inquest lawyers attend Pre Inquest Review hearings to represent care homes. These hearings play an essential role in setting the scope of an inquest and other important case management decisions. We recognise that maintaining a good reputation is crucial for a care home’s future business. We will advise whether there is a risk that a coroner could make a Report to Prevent Future Deaths and on possible steps that could be taken ahead of an inquest to avoid this. We advise care homes on judicial review and appeals against inquest outcomes. We provide similar services to adult community care provider businesses, and to those care organisations that care for children and young people.

We can assist in advising on evidence, witnesses, coronial procedure. We can represent individuals and organisations at pre inquest review hearings and at inquests. We can draft statements for witnesses, and advise on responding to summonses.
